On March 29, 2022, and January 11, 2023, the project team held a meeting with colleagues from the European Space Agency (ESA) to present the first project report on the research conducted and the results obtained so far in the project “Automatic monitoring of narrow-leaved ash (Fraxinus angustifolia Vahl) forests by remote sensing methods and Copernicus data”.
The prepared report covered the research and achieved results in the period from March 31, 2022, to November 30, 2022, the most important of which are the architecture, design and development of the RS4EST software and the additional field collection of spatial data of the state of ash forests by Hrvatske šume Ltd, which are necessary for conducting research and developing and validating the RS4EST software. During this period, numerous meetings with project partners were held to define further development of a prototype algorithm for automatic monitoring of field ash forests based on advanced remote sensing methods using space technologies, which will collect accurate and up-to-date spatial data on ash trees.
The prepared report and the submitted deliverables were approved at the meetings of the project partners and ESA representatives, and in accordance with the project contract, the disbursement of the second part of the contracted grant for the implementation of the project activities and tasks is expected.
